RubberCon 2023, Edinburgh
What a fantastic week Rubber Heart had at RubberCon 2023 in Edinburgh, Scotland with Erick Sharp from ACE Laboratories, Will Mars from Endurica, Chuck Brady from Rubber Division, ACS, and the rest of the 300-plus international rubber industry delegates! RubberCon 2023 was a resounding success, and we at Rubber Heart were delighted to be a part of this gathering to hear about new ideas and innovations in the industry.
Our three partners were able to showcase their services to the industry with dedicated exhibition booths at the event, which was organised by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and took place at Edinburgh’s University Campus.
A memorable networking evening was held in the heart of the city at The Caves, a unique venue that perfectly captures the history and charm of Edinburgh. We were treated to a lively Scottish Ceilidh, which was great fun for all!
The conference’s technical programme covered seven distinct themes: Elastomer product innovations, Material developments, Material processing, Sustainability, Characterisation & testing of materials and products, Modelling, and Smart materials. The presentations were of an exceptionally high standard, offering attendees a window into the latest research developments and trends within the industry. This included Endurica’s Dr. Will Mars presenting his paper titled “Virtual qualification of elastomeric engine mount with recorded multi-channel road load input”, which was based on a durability simulation project on a real part in collaboration with Ford. The presentation attracted a substantial audience and sparked thought-provoking questions and discussions, many of which continued at the Endurica booth.
It was also good to see so many young students in attendance and we hope that many of them will undoubtedly forge successful careers in the rubber industry. From everyone’s energy and enthusiasm, it was clear that the future of the UK, European, and international rubber industry is in a good place!
